General meetings will be held on every other Tuesday in the Weather Center at 6:30 P.M.
 
 
Letter of Intent
The following is the Letter Of intent submitted to Student Activities regarding this chapter’s establishment.
 
 
 
 
 
Chi Epsilon Pi – The National Meteorology Honor Society
I.                     DESCRIPTION
            a.      Chi Epsilon Pi will be a society established to promote academic excellence among meteorology students and to provide distinction for those students who have achieved the highest standard of academic achievement.
b.      Chi Epsilon Pi society members will demonstrate dedication to the purpose of the organization, its members, and those it serves.
II.                   STATEMENT OF REASON
a.      Currently, there is no specific means of awarding academic distinction to graduates in the Applied Meteorology program.
b.      Additionally, there is no organization on campus, specifically, for Applied Meteorology students.  (The Weather Club is open to all students)
c.      Students in the Applied Meteorology program are very focused on academics and passionate about meteorology.  This could provide them with a means to spread their academic enthusiasm and share their passion with other students, not only within the program, but also with the entire University
d.      The University has an excellent Applied Meteorology Program.  This society could, essentially, be used as a free tool to promote the program within the community, as well as nation-wide.
III.                  STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
a.      The purpose of the society is:
                                                             i.      to serve as a means for awarding distinction to students who have high scholastic ability and promise of achievement in meteorology
                                                            ii.      to promote both student and public interest in the study of meteorology and related sciences
                                                          iii.      to provide a community service by educating both students, and the public about meteorology
IV.               ANTICIPATED ACTIVITES
a.      Members will meet at least once a month
b.      One initiation ceremony for new members in the beginning of each semester
c.      One awards ceremony/banquet at the end of each semester to provide academic distinction to members with a special focus on graduating members.
d.      The organization will provide the following services:
                                                              i.      Free tutoring
                                                            ii.      Plan at least one educational/community service event per semester that involves the University and/or the community
V.                 LONG TERM GOALS
a.      Members will continue to do the following:
                                                              i.      Promote academic excellence among Applied Meteorology students.
                                                            ii.      Provide distinction for those students who have achieved the highest standard of academic achievement.
                                                          iii.      Get involved in the community, promote the University, and educate others about the field of meteorology. 
                                                           iv.      Promote the society within the University, such that all students who qualify for membership will actually apply for membership, become members, remain members, and be actively involved with the society.
VI.               BUDGETARY PLANS
a.      Funding shall come from three sources
                                                              i.      Membership dues
1.      New members will pay $50, for first semester
2.      Continuing members will pay $20, each semester
3.      Fees are subject to yearly review
a.      Vote will be taken at the end of the Spring Semester.
b.      Changes will take effect the following Fall Semester
                                                            ii.      Fundraising
1.      At least one fundraiser per semester to supplement banquet/ceremony expenses.
                                                          iii.      University Subsidies
1.      Proposals will be made each semester to the SGA finance board.
2.      Requests will be made to the Annual Fund, as deemed necessary.
                                                           iv.      Any additional expenses, not covered by organizational funding, will be supplied by members at the time of the event, on a case-by-case basis.
                                                             v.      Remaining funds at the end of the semester, if any, will kept in the general society fund to be used at a later time, unless voted by majority to be used for specific purpose.
