Channel 3a of the AVHRR is located within the part of the spectrum that receives reflected solar radiation during daylight
hours. It is most sensitive to wavelengths between 1.58 um and 1.64 um.
You can use this imagery during the day to:
- Detect aerosols present in the atmosphere.
- Detect amount of water in vegetation and vegetation health.
- Discriminate between clouds, snow, ice, and water.
