Visible Imagery
Visible satellite imagery is derived from reflected solar radiation from the earth-atmosphere
system.
Intensity of the image brightness depends on the albedo of the underlying surface or cloud.
In visible imagery, different shades of grey indicate different levels of reflectivity:
the most reflective surfaces are light or nearly white in tone while the least reflective surfaces are represented
as black.
Clouds are typically seen as white objects against the darker background of the earth's surface.
