polar orbiting satellites. The instrument detects radiation in six bands including:
- ch 1 - visible
- ch 2 - near IR
- ch 3a - shortwave IR
- ch 3b - shortwave IR
- ch 4 - thermal IR
- ch 5 - thermal IR.
